The cutting room floor

As we all ended up doing a lot of revisions to our midterms projects, I was wondering: what were some golden bits, or props, or ideas, or interactions that didn't make the final cut of your project?

  1. The idea of Death having an intern. Someone who he hired to kill people for him. This intern experiences a number of things, the transition from having fun taking lives, then to killing a child, realising maybe this isn't what it was cut out to be. And then one night waking up after receiving the next target, the intern is instructed to kill their lover sleeping next to them. The intern is faced with a choice, do they kill the lover? Themselves? Or Death? What happens if any of these choices are realised?

  2. Hans and Lily and played with Barbie dolls for two hours, dressing them up to reflect people we knew and acting out various situations with those people. They were cut very early in our process, which made sense, but I do wish we had been able to play with the play that comes with a good game of Barbie tea time.

  3. We also did an improvised movement piece where Terri and I were death and we were trying to seduce Nick to death. We just put on music and played around on a set. It turned into a really cool movement piece but didn't really fit into our final cut.
